She loved to organize family reunions, holidays and special occasion dinners. But most of all, she lived for and loved her family and family gatherings. In her spare time she loved oil painting, gardening (especially roses), sewing, reading, mountain camping, and golf. She also obtained Ham radio, pilot, and real estate licenses. She served in the Albuquerque Public Schools as an RN until her retirement in 1990 and moved to Colorado Springs in 1993. Later she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduated from the University of Albuquerque in 1972 with an Associate’s Degree in nursing followed by graduating cum laude in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in University Studies, as well as Master Equivalency in University Studies. Olive grew up in Montgomery, Alabama and was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. She was born Octoin Toledo, Ohio to Claude and Lillian Sorden, and was married to an Air Force officer and pilot, Frank Bowden, for thirty-two years. ![]() Bowden passed away at home in Colorado Springs, March 3, 2014. After moving back north to be near her family, she worked as an Intake-Specialist at Park Center in Fort Wayne, IN, and as a Customer Service Representative for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. In subsequent years, she worked as a secretary at Highland Baptist Church in Roswell, NM, and later at Serendipity Day School in Albuquerque, NM. Kathy’s beautifully hand-decorated cakes were famous, and she often had people requesting she make and decorate a cake for their loved-ones special occasions. She was also a Girl Scout Brownies troop leader. After her own children were born, Kathy served for several years as the Vice President of the PTA at Missouri Avenue Elementary school, and she worked as a teacher’s aide in that same school, always loving to be around kids. In her younger years, Kathy enjoyed babysitting for several close family friends, as holding babies was always one of her most favorite things to do. Kathy was born in Antwerp on April 7, 1951, a daughter of the late Rozelda (Otto) & Luther Hunt. Kathy (Hunt) Mauldin, 71, of Hicksville, passed away Sunday, Januat Parkview Regional Medical Center.
